Formal classes at the Kengokan Dojo will conclude for 2013 on Thursday 5 December.
Classes will resume on Thursday 16 January 2014.
During the formal break, there will continue to be informal training at outdoor locations. These sessions will be communicated by email to members.
Have a safe and happy break. The Kengokan Dojo wishes all members, friends and visitors all the best for a safe, happy and successful year in 2014.
Effective from Tuesday 1 May, our Tuesday training times will revert to a 6.30pm start.
Training times shall be:
- Tuesday 6.30pm – 8.00pm
- Thursday 6.30pm – 8.00pm
A number of us attended the Shorinjiryu Koshinkai Karatedo National Training Camp over the weekend.
We’re on the way back to Sydney or recovering from a big weekend, and there will be no training on Tuesday 24 April.
Look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.
For the past few weeks our normal location for the Kengokan Dojo, Fairland Hall in Hunters Hill, has been undergoing renovations. The photo at right shows that among the renovations are a new ramp at the front entrance.
As of today, 28 February, training will return to Fairland Hall.
I look forward to seeing everyone back at our usual location, and I am sure we are all eager to see the results of the renovations.
Information on finding the dojo can be found on our Dojo Location page.
Tonight was our first training session at our interim location at the Henley Community Centre.
Sensei Jo, Julie, Steven and Scott joined me for a sweaty session focusing on the kata Nijushiho.
Nijushiho is new to all three orange belts, and they’ve tackled it enthusiastically. They’ve worked their way through the entire kata (both “sides”), and are bedding it down into their memories. Of course, having learned a variety of self-defences taken straight from this kata, they’re well on their way!
The Henley Community Centre is a nice interim location, and we’re looking forward to the fresh perspective a change of venue will give us.
The first training session, Kagami Biraki for the Kengokan Dojo of Shorinjiryu Koshinkai Karatedo will be tonight, Tuesday 10 January, at 6.30pm.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, and to working out the excesses of the holiday season!
With Christmas and New Year approaching, we will be taking a short break from our regular training sessions. Our final formal session for 2011 will be Thursday 22 December 2011.
Scheduled training for 2012 will resume on Tuesday 10 January 2012. We will once again be training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
We will likely schedule some additional outdoor training sessions during the formal break. We will use email to keep everyone in the loop about such opportunities.
I trust everyone has a great break, and that 2012 will be a wonderful year.
